Vintage Shape | The Story Behind It

Hello and welcome to Vintage Shape!

Before you keep scrolling down to more interesting stuff I would like to properly introduce myself.

My name is Alex; I am a 25-year-old guy with a passion for clothing, and vintage/retro apparel. I am the founder of Vintage Shape and regardless of the reason you arrived with us, I hope that your stay here at VS has been the most pleasant so far.

In this page I will give a brief introduction to Vintage Shape; our story, ideals, and goals, so that you will have a unique and fulfilling experience with us.

The Story Behind Vintage Shape

So my journey with Vintage Shape started with (no jokes) a pair of pants. I am a man that really enjoys the whole clothing industry. Sure, I’m not a model and I don’t attend really important fashion events, but I like to have a wide variety of clothing so that I can dress well every time I go out. Mixing different parts of an outfit its really fun and rocking the complete package is even better.

As far as the ladies go, one of the things that really catches my attention every time I meet a new girl is her style. In my mind a girl who really knows how to dress up, will score high as far as my heart is concerned… but let’s not get carried away :).

Funny thing, a few years back I never really paid attention to vintage clothing; I always had the idead that all the classic looks from the XX century were pretty much dead. That is, until some time ago, when I saw a girl on the street wearing a pair of 80s style jeans combined with a casual t-shirt and a really old but undoubtedly nice haircut. I noticed that people were turning their heads around as if Madonna or Britney was walking passed them. She was the center of attention.

Soon after, I realized that even with the amazing hair that she had, her presence wouldn’t have been as strong as it was hadn’t she wore the right outfit. The combination of an “outdated” and modern look is always a real shocker to people’s eyes. As some people say: “You are what you wear”.

With this in mind I created Vintage Shape. I wanted to have a place of my own where I could share my ideas and thoughts; something where vintage, retro, and modern clothing could be combined and that really stood out from the rest, something that felt that it was part of our society all along but that the majority of people were blind to it.

Why Promote Vintage Items?

The answer to this is really simple; people nowadays are lost in terms of the classics. I know – being a millennial myself – that by living in the 21st century we are surrounded by a lot of cool stuff like the internet, modern cars, computers, you name it. However, many of these things indirectly contribute to a sheep like behavior; follow the popular bands, buy the latest phone, wear a specific type of clothing, all of these things shaped my vision.

I believe people should try new stuff that really resonates with themselves and not with the mainstream media. A 60-year-old watch? fine there are many ways to wear it properly. A dress that looks like it came out straight out of the 50s? Man, what a classic.

In the end, my job here is to assist you in your search for that stand out version of yourself. If it is by obtaining some classic products online, by all means I will do my best to help you.
